Fear of Manifesting Awful Sh**

We’ve all heard of FOMO but have you heard of FOMAS? Of course you haven’t because I just made it up but that doesn’t make the Fear of Manifesting Awful Sh** it feel any less real and any less stressful. Manifestation and the law of attraction have taken over every conversation and FYP at some point this year. We’ve all seen the power of writing things down or speaking them outloud and watching them come to life.  We’ve seen people tweet their goals, and quote tweet when they got exactly what they hoped for and more. When it’s good, it’s really good, but when it’s bad do you ever wonder if you brought it on yourself? Do you ever worry if the same power to bring you good can also bring your worst fears to life?

We so often hear people push and push for you to affirm yourself, but honestly, sometimes the affirmations are a really hard sell even if you’re the one that wrote them. At some point in our lives we’ll all question what we’re doing, if we’re doing the right thing, or how come the thing we’re working so hard for keeps slipping just outside of our grasp. Doubt and hesitation grow when our reality isn’t matching our vision and those feelings are almost unavoidable in a social media era where everyone’s wins are on display. It’s easy to surmise that the reason things aren’t “flowing to you effortlessly” is because of your second-guessing. Then comes that question, did I bring this on myself?

The answer is no.

In Renaissance: A Film By Beyonce, Beyonce’s admission of second-guessing really got me thinking. Beyonce could list every single setback she’s experienced and it would never cross my mind to wonder if bad things happened because she second-guessed herself. I never once wondered if the tour took 4 years to come together because of something she did wrong or if her negative thoughts created real life shit storms. I surmised the setbacks to being a natural part of life. I attributed the 4 years to a woman who was meticulous in executing her vision. I see the Renaissance Tour as a masterpiece that happened at the perfect time in Beyonce’s evolution as an artist and her journey in her womanhood. I see alignment.

An even more recent example is Victoria Monet. By now we’ve all read about Victoria being told it was “too early in her story” to perform at the VMAs, despite the years of hard work she’s put in with no complaints and pure talent she possesses. I don’t know about you but I never wondered if Victoria ever did something wrong for the spotlight to take so long to shine on her. The same way Beyonce questioned things, I’m sure Victoria did. When I see Victoria holding her three Grammy’s, I see a testimony that God honors pure intentions. Again, I see alignment.

Much in the same way that FOMO ends up being a conflated idea what you think you’re missing out on, FOMAS is a conflated idea of how much influence fear, hesitation, and doubt have on what you’re manifesting.

Feelings are real, but that doesn’t make them your actual reality. Your reality is much more likely to reflect your intentions, your best efforts, your energy, and your work ethics. Even if it takes a little time.
